Redefine Success

Explicit Gospel by Matt Chandler

"There aren't too many books written about how you can toil away all your life and be unbelievably faithful to God and see little fruit this side of heaven. And yet God sees things differently...
Faithfulness is success. Obedience is success."

The world defines success as fame, fortune, recognition, and yet Scripture time and time again reveals God's glory through the faithful and obedient, not the famous, rich, or recognized. We judge success in Christian ministry by the fruit we see, the number of attendees, the number of books sold. Many of the ministries recorded in Scripture would be considered failures according to our standards and still God achieved His purposes through willing and obedient hearts. How frustrating it is to feel like you are spinning your wheels and not gaining ground, but in light of the Kingdom, those spinning wheels may just spark the momentum needed for generations to come, though you personally may never see the impact. We are called to be faithful. We are called to be obedient. We are challenged to redefine success.
